BANGALORE: In the minimalist video of the viral hit 'Why this Kolaveri di', actor and occasional singer Dhanush can't help grinning as he repeats the now-famous catchphrase of the song over and over again. He's clearly having a lot of fun, getting a kick out of mouthing lyrics that are so absurd they make one burst into spontaneous giggles.

Perhaps it is this sense of absurd fun - its whacked out irreverence, its 'f#@# it, just chill' attitude - that's made the song a humongous hit across the nation, with close to 3.79 million views on its official YouTube video in less than a week and a top trending topic on Twitter the past three days.

Learning another language, especially at an older age, can be one of the most difficult tasks a person takes on in his or her life. It challenges your brain in a way most other things don't, and on top of that can be embarrassing or awkward while you are still learning.

Scary as it can be, learning another language is also very beneficial. Many people today are learning English as a second language, for example, to improve their chances at a better job and to increase their social mobility.

English is a great language to learn, but is also one of the hardest languages to master. It is inconsistent, and full of strange patterns and rules that aren't intuitive to non-native speakers.

There are, however, a few tricks you can employ to help you learn and master English:

· Record yourself speaking, and play it back to yourself. Speaking another language will not sound natural to your ear for a long time. It is important to hear yourself speaking so that you can monitor your pronunciation and fluidity, but just hearing your voice as you speak is generally not enough. Recording your voice with a tape recorder or other similar device will enable you to hear your voice neutrally, and will help you hear your errors better than you can while only speaking.

· Immerse yourself in English. When trying to learn another language, one of the most important things to do is surround yourself with examples of that language. Read English books, listen to English music, watch movies in English (subtitles can help you tremendously), and so on. The more you hear it, the more natural it will become.

· Speak English as often as you can. This tip is true no matter what language you are learning; the basic truth is that you will not learn English, or any other new language, if you do not speak it regularly, preferably with people who speak it well. It will probably be uncomfortable, but if you want to learn the language, that is one of the hurdles you'll have to jump over. People are generally understanding of language deficiencies, especially if you let them know that you are still trying to learn. Be open to suggestions, and don't take it personally if someone corrects you. Remember, you're always learning!

It will take hard work, but following these three simple steps will make learning English much easier, and hopefully will put you on the path to fluency much faster.

Process to become a company secretary
To join the course, a student has to complete the following three programme :

Foundation Programme
Executive Programme
Final Programme

1. Foundation Programme
This is courses of eight months duration. The course provides knowledge in Business Communication, Business Laws and management, Principles of Accountancy and Economics and statistics.
Foundation Examination is conducted in June and December every year. Admission is open round the year and is valid for 3 years.

2. Executive Programme
After passing the Foundation Examination, the student who is above 17 years of age can register for the Executive programme. Graduates, post-graduates (excluding fine arts) and those who have passed final exam of ICWAI or ICAI or of any other accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognized by the Council of the Institute can directly enroll to the intermediate course without doing foundation course.

3. Final/Professional Programme
A student is admitted to the Final examination only after a minimum period of nine months after passing intermediate examination. The examinations are conducted twice a year in June and December. The student can appear for the professional examination only 9 months after passing the Executive programme.

Training
A candidate who has passed the Final examination of the Institute is required to possess the practical experience and undergo the practical training or be exempted there from as prescribed in the Regulations for becoming eligible to the Associate Membership of the Institute.

Eligibility

1. The candidate must have passed Higher Secondary/ XII Std/ 10+2 level/ equivalent examination from any of the recognised boards.
2. Candidate should have completed 17 years and should not be more than 19 years old by June 30, 2011.

Candidates satisfying the following minimum criteria are eligible to apply for five year integrated postgraduate programme in management (IPGP) of IIM Indore. The programme will be commencing from October 2011.

How To Apply

Candidates seeking admission to the five year Integrated PGP of IIM Indore have to submit their application so as to reach IIM Indore on or before September 6, 2011 along with a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000 (Rupees one thousand only) (Rs 500 in case of SC and ST). Application fee is payable by DD or through RTGS/NEFT to IIM.

Selection Process

The selection process will consist of two-stages. Eligible candidates will be called for Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their academic performance in Secondary or equivalent, Higher Secondary or equivalent, scholastic achievements and performance in SAT-1. Candidates with no valid SAT-I scores are also eligible to apply if they satisfy the minimum requirements as mentioned above.

Final selection to the five year integrated PGP would be based on criteria, such as the candidate's academic performance at Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent, scholastic achievements, performance in
SAT –1 and performance in AT and PI.

What career guidance or career advice would you give to somebody that really hasn't a clue as to what career they would like to pursue? Education and Career Guidance, do they go hand in hand? What importance those education and academic qualifications go toward career guidance and a candidate's career progression?

The student who hasn't a clue can often be very worried about this but in actual fact they are often better off than the student who sees career as a particular occupation they will have when they graduate for the rest of their life. Career is a lifelong journey and a process of continually developing skills and personal qualities that are transferable. It is far better if the student can focus on the journey rather than on a particular destination.

Education and Career Guidance go hand in hand. For almost all careers nowadays academic qualifications are a pre-requisite. However students also need to be able to make decisions and choices, plan initiatives and be creative thinkers. This is because the reality today is that the majority of the students I see will have not one but several careers. They will have to change roles and organizations and reinvent themselves many times.

Is it ever too late to get back into education?

It is never too late to get back into education. Learning is a life-long process and people are most alive when they are learning and engaged. There are also so many opportunities now for people to return to education. There are also many more opportunities for students to remain in education after second-level. First of all I tell you from where I came to this idea. When I used to take classes in English speaking coaching, there was a program of speaking for 1 minute without stopping on given topic. This was the great way in which almost all students took interest.

Now I am telling you, how it can help you to learn English and how can you use this. This way of learning will really improve and make you frequently speaking.

You can use this while you have vacant period in school, while meeting with the group of friends.
Tell all your friends that they are going to play a game. In which one by one each will be given a topic to speak for 1 minute. They can say anything they want to as long as it is connected somehow to the topic. And they must keep talking - no stopping or long pauses. And they need not to worry about mistakes.

Give them a quick example of what they need to do. Use ‘Why We Need Unions.’ as an example:

"As we know that "union is the strength". So we need union in every field. Being united always help us with solving work related problems and issues. Union also save jobs. As the employees are united, it prevent abuse of employees. We get the better result of a work if it is done by united people."

Kinds of pollution : There are three main kinds of pollution such as:
1. Air pollution : Air pollution is mostly caused by the smoke coming out of the chimneys or factories, mills or workshops. Air pollution may cause lung diseases, adthma, eye-flue, headache etc.

2. Water pollution : Water is the basis of the life but the greed of man to get more and more money pollutes it. The owners of industries dump waste material on the surface of the earth or in the river. Thus water is polluted. People use this polluted water and invite a number of diseases.

3. Noise pollution : Noise more than that of 80 decibels is said to cause deafness and some other disease. In large cities the roar of vehicles is unbearable. Their engines and horns create noise pollution which is harmful for people's physical as well as mental health.

How to check pollution : To check pollution their should be planned industrialisation. The waste material of industries as well as domestic waste should be recycled to be use in some other forms. Press attention should be called towards those who have appied new technologies irresponsibly. The most important step to check pollution is public awareness. Plantation should be encouraged. There should be no deforestation.

Causes : Terrorism is an outcome of some people's selfish motives. There are some narrow minded people who on based on regional, linguistic and other bases want to divide our nation into small parts. They want to establish their supremacy.

Bad Effects : Terrorism is growing day by day. Thousand of innocent persons have met their tragic end in Punjab due to it. The terrorists caused serious train accidents in Tamilnadu and Kerala. Jammu and kashmir is the worst affected area by terrorism. Bomb explosion in ayodhya, busy market in delhi, in local trains in mumbai, terrorists attacks on taj hotel (mumbai), serious bomb blast in Jaipur are a few examples to show that no place is safe today. People are so terrified that they hesitate in going out of their houses. Man has lost faith in man. Every year a lot of money, energy and time is spent to check it which cause a setback to the development work.

Conclusion : If we want to leave in peace, we must face terrorism boldly. Government should take the strongest actions against these people as they are the greatest enemies of the human society. We have to rise above all narrow loyalties. Only then we can hope this monster to end.

Can as shown in these sentences is also used to seek and grant permission. It is used to seek permission in the circumstances where social relationship , particularly social authority is involved. It is used to ask if it is OK to do thing.

(C)    Request
(i)    Nikhil, can you lend me a stamp?
(ii)    Can you bring me some more butter?
(iii)    Can you give me a receipt?

Can thus functions in making request and we can ask people to do thing with‘can you….?’ This is informal and we often use it when we are talking to friends and also in shops, restaurants, offices etc.

(D)    Possibility

(i)    We are sure these problems can be solved.
(ii)    These animals can sometimes become violent.

When the speaker has a desire to convey the potential for an event taking place, even where there is no surety of how or when the potential will be realized, the same can be expressed using can as shown in the sentences just above.
